Jim graduated from Lahainaluna and later went on to receive a B.S. in chemical engineering from Indiana Technical Institute in Fort Wayne in 1943.
Pearl Leone Hyman was born in 1921 in New York City to Jewish immigrant parents. Pearl graduated high school in the Bronx and worked for the government during the War.
